THE SOLUTION...
To reduce labour costs up to 70%
and delivery time up to 50% !!
To save on shipyards' resources
To increase work safety
To improve quality

The maintenance of tanks and cargo holds of tankers, bulk carriers and container ships is still a difficult and labour-intensive task. Up to 4.000 square metres of walls, ceilings and floors in each tank or hold have to be cleaned, recoated and recoated manually. Therefore expensive scaffoldings or cherry pickers have to be built or brought in the tanks or holds, which leads to a bunch of disadvantages:
  • the setup and dismantle procedures take a large amount of valuable lay days and workforce
  • the scaffolding material is expensive and has to be cleaned in an extensive way
  • bad working conditions due to insufficient lighting, exhaust gases etc.
  • limited working areas due to the structure of scaffolding
INTERNAL TANK PLATFORM
As suggested by shipyards in 2004, a small team of engineers started the development of a system of four independent operable working platforms. To deal with the above mentioned disadvantages Palfinger Systems developed the Internal Tank Platform ITP-4.

One of the main requirements to the system was the ability to fold into a tube with smallest possible dimensions. The engineering team managed with great efforts to limit these dimensions to 1300 by 800 mm.

The ITP is approved by TÜV, for other approval certificates we offer our support.
